Built-Up Roofing (Multiple Ply BUR or Combination BUR)

Total Roof Management specifies and brokers Built-Up Roof (BUR) systems utilizing key high performance components such as polyester roofing membranes and high-penetration index asphalt. TRM also specifies combination BURs that blend multiple plies of traditional fiberglass felt with thermoplastic membranes, which are typically associated with single ply roof systems. Surfacing options for each BUR system can vary with requirements for fire safety, environmental & energy efficiency codes and the wishes of the building owner. The achievable goal in each BUR design is to create a roof membrane with multiple plies of waterproofing protection (redundancy) combined with superior strength (through saturation), elastomeric properties (for elongation) and high solar reflectivity (emissivity thermal values.) All roof systems recommended and specified by TRM have “in service” performance records that are longer than the typically desired warranty periods, have an absolute ZERO history of failure or problems and can be fully guaranteed for various lengths of time.

BUILT UP ROOFING
Designed and specified to achieve superior strength and elasticity:
  • Multiple ply roof membranes utilizing high performance components, such as polyester membranes, high penetration-index asphalt, neoprene mastics, etc.
  • Combination systems that blend multiple plies of traditional fiberglass with thermoplastic membranes.

SINGLE PLY ROOFING
Different types of membranes for different applications and roof conditions:
  • Thermoplastic or thermoset membranes in single ply applications.
  • Mechanically attached, fully adhered with hot asphalt or fully adhered with cold process adhesives.

FLUID APPLIED ROOFING
Superior elasticity and reflectivity in a seamless roof system:
  • Cost effective roofing alternatives, particularly in retrofit applications.
  • Preferential tax treatment in retrofit applications.

SPRAYED POLYURETHANE ROOFING
The ultimate “Cool Roof” installation:
  • Seamless roof systems with insulating values.
  • Different elastomeric coatings for different roof conditions.

METAL ROOFING
When the roof system is part of the building’s aesthetics:
  • Metal roof systems with various dimensional “profiles.”
  • Aesthetically pleasing choice for steep sloped roofs and roof mansards.

ROOF UNDERLAYMENT MEMBRANES FOR TILE, SHINGLE & METAL ROOF SYSTEMS
Superior waterproofing for steep slope applications:
  • Self-adhering, modified asphalt waterproof membranes for use as underlayments in tile, composition asphalt shingle and metal roof systems.
  • Long lasting waterproof protection, particularly at roof transitions.
